Great beaches on the Caribbean coast

Often referred to as El Porvenir Coveñas due to its close proximity to the town of Coveñas Sucre. The beaches of el porvenir are actually in the municipio of San Antero Cordoba. The beaches here are considered some of the best in Colombia when looking for a relaxed atmosphere. Gradually sloping white sand kissed by the warm Caribbean sea, make them an excellent choice for couples, families and friends. With a selection of beach bars and restaurants.

Strict building regulations which allow constructions of no more than three floors ensure the beautiful beaches are never over crowded and helps maintain the sensention of being in a natural tropical paradise.

What to do in el Porvenir Cordoba

Apart from the obvious of just relaxing on the beaches and enjoying the local hospitalty and culture there are numerous options for the more adventurous. Its posiible to enjoy many watersports, from renting Kayaks and jet skies to snorkeling or diving with Coveñas dive center just 7 minutes away.

Popular day trips include visiting the archelepego of the islas de San Bernardo, boat trips to the extensive mangrove cienegas in Coveñas and San Antero where you can explore some fantastic local nature and visit various wildlife, fish and Cayman conservation projects. The bustling towns of Coveñas and San Antero are just a short distance away.

When to visit el Porvenir Colombia

The climate in this area of la Costa Caribe Colombiana is generally settled with consitant sunny days and cooling afternoon breezes during the months from july to november you should expect some rain, however it mainly falls during the night and any clouds usually quickly give way to clear skies. February and March and tradionally the windier months, indeed the bearby town holds an annual kite surfing festival with competitions and live music etc. but even at this time the sea is normally carm in the mornings with breeze increasing during the afternoons.

The peak seasons of December, January and easter are the busier periods and prebooking accommodation well in advance for these periods is almost essential. El Porvenir hosts the annual Coconut Festival in and the nearby town of San Antero Cordoba hosts annual festvals of celebrating Burros in prawns and the local prawn cocktail these festivals usually take place at the end of april/beginnning of may and the end of September respectively.

How to get to el Porvenir Cordoba

El Porvenir is situated inthe Gulf of Morisquillo on the border of the Municipities of Cordoba and Sucre less than four kilometeres from the Center of the popular resort town of Coveñas, sucre and just 8 kilomters from the bustling costal town of San Antero Cordoba. From most of Colombia's major cities you can reach El Porvenir in a touch over 2 hours with many direct flights to Monteria from Medellin, Bogota and Cali etc, there also flights from Medellin to Tolu. Google flights are higly reccommned for finding low cost flights with flexible travllers able to find return flights from major cities for prices starting at 200,000 COP.

It is possible to arrive travel bus from Cartagena in under 3 hours. From Monteria airport the journey is a little over an hour or around 40 minuites from Tolu. There are regualr buses from both Monteria and Tolu and mobile Uber type apps such as indriver are a popular choice for travelers in this region of Colombia's Caribbean coast.
